Day 4

I would like to be upset about this, but it's too freaking beautiful outside and I'm already over it. Denver is amazing, the people are gorgeous, the weather is perfect, and I've never seen a horizon like this before, with jagged mountains piercing it from every angle. I'm laying in a public garden downtown, alone, just soaking up the sunshine. Yes, alone.

It went like this. Zim was wanting to hang with this guy Stewart that he met in the hop yesterday. So today he starts calling him by lunch time and can't get an answer. Then he tells me we're supposed to meet him at some fountain downtown. So we take a bus downtown and set across the area on foot. We're both of the belief that you can only learn a downtown area by walking.

However, it helps when your destination isn't some crazy made-up thing!

Zim only had a general idea of where this fountain was, but said he would recognize it when he saw it. Zim's been to Denver before, so I assumed he knew it from then. But then he says he's never seen it before, and when I question him, won't explain how he'll recognize it. And out of all the fountains downtown, the one he settles on is a dinky little thing in front of an outdoor mall.

So we wait, and wait, and wait. And when Zim finally realizes that no one is meeting him, he takes off running. Leaving me down here alone.

I was furious for a while. I spent a couple of hours inside a bar, feeling kind of self-conscious for drinking so early in the day but proceeding to get drunk anyway. Finally he called my cell, apologetic and confused, acting like he'd thought I wanted him to leave me down there. I told him I'd meet him at the hotel. But now I've decided to take my time. I'm tipsy in the flowers and rather enjoying myself. And I'm over it. But he better not pull this shit again.
