Day 12

We went to Wallowa Lake this morning. It's a gorgeous, freezing glacial lake, with snow-capped mountains visible across it and reflected into it. It's not really for swimming in, more for dipping your hands in and gazing at.

I was disappointed that there was no sign of Big Wally, the Wallowa Lake serpent monster. Nor did I spot Bigfoot in the woods by the lake or highway. Lame.

Spending the rest of today wandering this tiny town, writing, and cooking some fresh salmon. Did I mention the beer was good here? The salmon's good, too. And this eclectic lodge has proven a great place to slow down in the midst of our cross-country chaos. I wish the telescope worked. Not that I could haul that massive thing outside.

Zim still hasn't shown me what he's working on. But he is up all night. Something's going on with him.
